How Bad Times Video AI collects, uses, and protects your personal information — including the photos you upload and the videos you generate.

Last updated: 2026-10-16

Introduction

Welcome to Bad Times Video AI ("Bad Times Video AI", "we", "us"). Our service (badtimesvideoai.com) turns one photo of your pet, baby, child or yourself into a 15-second AI-generated video in the "Bad Times" trend format — a vertical 9:16 MP4 with sound.

We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. It applies when you visit our website, create an account, upload a photo, generate or download a video, purchase credits, or contact support.

For anything not covered here, contact us at support@badtimesvideoai.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored in encrypted form) when you sign up, or your Google account identifiers when you sign in with Google.
  • Photos and videos — the photo you upload to generate a video, and the videos generated for you. This is the content at the heart of the service.
  • Support messages — anything you send us by email or through the support widget, including attachments you choose to include.

Information we collect automatically

  • Transaction records — credit packs purchased, credits granted and consumed, generation history (status, timestamps, version selected). Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (e.g. Stripe); we never see or store your full card number.
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used (such as generating a video or hitting the credit paywall), referring pages, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Device and log data — browser type, operating system, device identifiers, IP address, and diagnostic logs kept for security and debugging.
  • Cookies — we use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and remember security-related state. Optional analytics cookies are only set where you have consented (see Cookies).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide the service — create your account, upload and process your photo, generate your video, let you preview and download it, and show your generation history.
  • Process payments and credits — create orders, deliver purchased credits, track credit usage and refunds.
  • Secure the service and prevent abuse — enforce rate limits, detect fraud and unauthorized access, and protect users from harmful use of the tool.
  • Communicate with you — send service notices (such as order confirmations), respond to support requests, and — where you have opted in — send product updates.
  • Improve the service — understand which features work, diagnose errors, and develop new features. We work with aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible.
  • Comply with the law — meet tax, accounting, and other legal obligations, and respond to lawful requests.

3. Legal Bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — providing your account, generation, download and purchase services you request.
  • Consent — processing the photo and likeness you upload (including any person appearing in it), and setting optional analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — securing the service, preventing fraud and abuse, understanding service performance, and improving the product, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — keeping records required by tax and financial regulation.

4. Your Photos, Videos, and AI Processing

This is the most important part of this policy for our product:

  • You keep ownership of the photo you upload and of the videos generated for you. We do not claim any ownership over your content.
  • We process your photo to run the AI generation — that means transmitting it to our AI generation provider(s) for the sole purpose of producing your video. The generated video is stored on our servers (or our storage provider) so you can preview and download it.
  • We do not use your photos or generated videos to train AI models. Your content is not used to build or improve machine-learning models, and we contractually require our AI providers not to train on it either.
  • Limited licence to us — you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, transmit and display your content solely as needed to operate the service (generate, store and deliver your video, make it available in your history, and keep backups). This licence ends when your content is deleted from the service.
  • Your responsibility for rights — before uploading, you must have the right to use the photo, including the consent of any person recognizably appearing in it (see our Terms of Service).

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers (processors) who help us run the product, under contracts that limit their use of the data:
    • Cloud hosting and storage — where the website, database and media files live.
    • AI generation providers — to whom your photo is transmitted to compute the video.
    • Payment processors (such as Stripe) — to handle credit-pack purchases; they receive the payment details you enter directly.
    • Email and support tools — to send transactional messages and answer your requests.
    • Analytics (only with consent where required) — to understand aggregated usage.
  • Authorities or other parties when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public from harm.
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this policy.

A current list of our processors is available on request at support@badtimesvideoai.com.

6. How Long We Keep Your Information

  • Account data — kept until you delete your account (or ask us to), then removed or anonymized within a reasonable period, except records we must keep by law.
  • Photos and generated videos — kept while your account is active so you can re-download your work. When you delete a video or your account, we delete the content from active systems promptly and from backups on their normal rotation schedule.
  • Transaction and credit records — kept for the periods required by tax, accounting and consumer-protection law (typically up to 7–10 years for financial records).
  • Security logs — kept for a short period (typically up to 12 months) for fraud prevention and diagnostics.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information: HTTPS/TLS in transit, encryption of secrets at rest, access controls on production systems, and rate limiting against abuse. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your account, photos, videos and personal information.
  • Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent (for example, for analytics cookies or marketing) without affecting past lawful processing.
  • Complain to your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@badtimesvideoai.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law.

For California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the rights to know, delete, correct and non-discrimination, which you can exercise through the contact above.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

  • Strictly necessary — session and security cookies that keep you signed in and protect against fraud. These cannot be switched off.
  • Optional analytics — measure visits and feature usage in aggregate. Set only where required after your consent; you can change your choice at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings.

10. Children's Privacy

The service is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your country, which may be 13).

The "Baby & people" version of our product is designed for parents and guardians creating videos of their own children. If you upload a photo of a child, you must be the child's parent or guardian, or have verifiable parental consent, and you are responsible for that upload. We never knowingly collect personal data directly from children, and we do not allow any sexualized or harmful content depicting minors — this is zero-tolerance and will be reported to the relevant authorities (see our Terms of Service).

If you believe a child's personal data has been provided to us improperly, contact support@badtimesvideoai.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. International Transfers

We and our providers may process your information in countries other than your own (including the United States). Where we transfer personal data from the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here with a new "updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the product. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

13. Contact

Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy:

  • Email: support@badtimesvideoai.com

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
